WILLEMSTAD – Blue Bay Dive & Watersports just finished prepping 6 new candidates for the May Instructor Exam.
After an intensive 10-day course and 2 days of exams, all six candidates have passed the PADI Instructor Course. There were students from different dive centers locally and internationally who took part in the May Instructor Development Course under the supervision of the PADI Course Director Mick Bosman and his assisting staff. The students hailed from the following dive centers Blue Bay Dive & Watersports, Scuba Lodge, Porto Mari Sports, The Diveshop, & Harbor Dive Center (USA).
During this course all candidates learned the components to become a perfect dive instructor. Starting from the basics, of, how can I be a helpful teacher to keeping control of my students during our sessions to how can I promote safe scuba diving practices. With studying hard, giving oral presentations, and a lot of practical water sessions they were preparing themselves for the Instructor Exam.
PADI which stands for Professional Association of Dive Instructors handles the 2 days of exam. They flew in Mr. John Land for this special examination. John Land (PADI Examiner) was impressed by the hospitality of the island and the quality of the dive instructors. He said, “I am sure that these new instructors will teach with pleasure and confidence”.
With the growing amount of dive instructors on the island, the quality of the dive industry on Curacao is rising. A wishful outcome, because diving on Curacao is trending! Mick Bosman agrees commenting “With the tourism growing specially in the diving industry on the island it is fantastic to see the amount of interest folks are having in becoming a dive professional and how the quality is improving.”
The new instructors are enthusiastic about their new title, “It is a dream come true to teach new divers and to show them the beauty of the underwater world of Curacao”, a quote from Curacao’s new PADI Instructor Ward Nieboer.
